Russian Cultural Centre

The Russian Cultural Centre
The first Russian Cultural Centre in Romania was inaugurated on December 4th, 2009 in the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE).
The Russian Cultural Centres from various countries (including the Centre in Bucharest) have been founded on the basis of an agreement between local representative education institutions and the Russian World Foundation (Russkiy Mir Foundation), established in June 2007 by Vladimir Putin, the then president of the Russian Federation. The main objective of the Centres is "to promote the teaching and learning of Russian as a foreign language, since it represents both Russia 's national heritage and a key element of the Russian culture as well as of the world culture."
The Russian World Foundation (Russkiy Mir Foundation) represents a joint project of the Russian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, on the one hand, and of Education and Science, on the other hand. The project is financed by means of public and private funds. The Russian World consists in people of various nationalities and religious beliefs, Russian citizens living abroad, emigrants and citizens of other nationalities who are interested in the Russian culture, civilization and language.
The Russian Cultural Centres offer their target audience access to:
the Russian cultural, historical and literary heritage
stimulating and efficient teaching methodology for those interested in learning Russian
modern innovative ideas and cultural activities
publications made available through sponsorship by the Russian World Foundation (Russkiy Mir Foundation) from the Russian Federation
opportunities for enhancing the cultural and scientific exchange between the Russian Federation and the countries hosting such Centres.

In the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), the Russian Cultural Centre operates in the Ion N. Angelescu building, Room 0206 (2 nd floor), as a distinct part of the university's Central Library. In this location, readers have access to various materials representative for the Russian history, culture, language and civilization.
